After five years of curating its roster of talent and creating award-winning commercial and documentary work, the creative-led production studio We The People is ushering in its next chapter with new branding, a new global roster and bolstered creative services as WTP Pictures.
The brainchild of production veterans Jesse Ford and Susan Rued Anderson, We The People started as a branded content production studio in Detroit, Michigan that sought to break the traditional mould with a mixture of collaboration, strategic agility, and the shared mission to create a space where creativity flourishes. Today, under its new banner, WTP Pictures has grown into a global production company with offices in Detroit and LA that shoots commercials, branded content, music videos, and documentaries worldwide, with this new expansion growing to include long form original entertainment. In addition to creating commercial work for the likes of The Zebra and Starbucks, the company has also launched a full-length documentary ‘Revolution’, a behind-the-scenes story depicting the making of the GMC HUMMER EV Pickup.
As they grow with an influx of new talent, Jesse and Susan have continued to double down in their commitment to “un-status the quo” with WTP Pictures. No egos. No BS. Just bold, creatively-driven content and a passion for nurturing the next generation of creators. That approach has resulted in a dynamic roster of talented directors working across both commercials and entertainment, as well as the addition of executive producer Tiffany Caprice in 2021.
“Our origin story is rooted in people, those in front as well as behind the camera, whether through advertising, entertainment or documentary formats. People are our ‘why’,” explained Jesse. “The new name symbolises the forward movement of our team’s hard work and a milestone in our continued growth. Cinematic storytelling has always been at the foundation of what we stand for as a company and this expansion into original, long form entertainment feels like a natural next step for our passionate team of storytellers and producers.”
Susan added: “We are a company with exceptional creative talent supported by knowledgeable, ethical, and gracious producers. To put it simply, we do good work with good people.”
The new name is aligned with a new expansion into original entertainment and long form production. Following the success of the company’s collaboration with General Motors to produce ‘Revolution’, which premiered on the HISTORY Channel, the new direction for WTP Pictures includes several long form original entertainment projects that serve as an organic extension of the company’s background in fostering creative partnerships with exceptional directorial talent. Award-winning Susan will continue to lead the commercial branch of the studio, with Jesse taking the helm of the new entertainment division.
Commenting on the growth, Jesse explained: “Original Content is a place to truly connect and make an impact. Through the themes of hope, love, triumph, empathy, and more we hope to bridge the gap in the human divide.
